WELL WATER
How to Get Rid of Iron in Well Water
Why does iron stain everything orange?
Iron sits dissolved and invisible in the water until it hits air, then it turns to rust and stains whatever it lands on: toilet bowls, tubs, white laundry. The higher the iron, the faster the staining comes back after you clean.
What removes iron from well water?
Air-injection oxidation is the standard fix. It turns the dissolved iron into a form a filter can trap, and it goes before the softener so the iron never reaches the resin. On heavier iron this matters, because a softener on its own gets overwhelmed and stops keeping up.
