Privacy Policy
1. Who this is about
Stillwell Water LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as Stillwell, sells and installs residential water treatment equipment in Florida and runs a membership service for the people who buy it. This policy explains what we do with information from this website, our text messages, our email and the visits we make to your home.
It applies to people who use this site or become customers. It doesn't apply to anything a third party does on its own site, even if we linked to it.
2. What we collect
What you tell us. Your first name, your mobile number, your ZIP code and your answers about your water: your fixtures, what you've noticed, whether you're on city water or a well. If you ask for a quote we'll also take an email address. If you become a customer we take a service address and payment details.
What your device tells us. IP address, browser and device type, the pages you look at, how you got here, and the campaign parameters on the link you followed.
What we look up. Publicly available information about water in your area: utility water quality reports, regulatory databases and area-level well and geology data. This is about your ZIP code or your county, not about your house.
Nothing here has been measured at your address. We measure at your tap on install day.
Estimates on this site come from your answers and from area-level public data, so treat them as a starting point rather than a reading from your tap.
We don't ask for and don't want your Social Security number, your financial account credentials or any health information. Don't send them to us.
3. What we use it for
- Building the Water Profile you asked for and getting it to you.
- Preparing a quote, booking an appointment and doing the work.
- Supporting the equipment and running your membership visits.
- Answering you when you get in touch.
- Telling you about our equipment, service plans and offers, by text or email, if you've agreed to hear from us.
- Improving the site, our estimates and our service.
- Measuring our own advertising, as described in section 6.
- Meeting our legal, tax and safety obligations, and enforcing our terms.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't rent it. We haven't in the past and this policy would have to change first.
4. Text messages, and what we do with your mobile number
We collect your consent to text you as a separate step, never as a side effect of giving us your number. On this site that's an unchecked box on the form, next to language telling you what we'll send. In person it's your explicit verbal agreement to a technician at your home. Either way we record when you gave consent and how. Saying yes covers both the messages about your own job and the occasional offer, and you can leave at any time. Consent isn't a condition of buying anything from us.
What we send:
- The link to your Water Profile.
- Quote and appointment updates.
- Install and service visit reminders.
- Replies to questions you send us.
- Filter change and maintenance reminders for equipment you own.
- Occasional offers on our water treatment equipment, service plans and seasonal promotions.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your mobile information
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. This information will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell your mobile information.
We send you our own offers. That's different from handing your number to somebody else, and we don't do the second one.
Your text messaging opt-in and the record of your consent are never shared with anyone and never used for anything other than running the messaging program you agreed to. The one exception is a sale or transfer of the business, described in section 5, where consent records move with the customer records they belong to and stay subject to this policy.
The vendors who deliver our messages and hold our customer records handle your number only to do that work for us, under contract, and they aren't permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Your mobile number is never included in our advertising measurement.
Getting out
Reply STOP to any message and the messages stop. You can also tell us in writing using the contact details at the bottom of this page. We'll confirm once, and that's the last one you'll get.
We keep a record of numbers that have opted out. That's the only way to make sure a STOP stays honoured, so this record survives a deletion request. It isn't used for anything else.
6. Advertising and measurement
We advertise, and we need to know which ads produce real customers. To do that we send advertising platforms a record of events on this site: a page view, a completed Water Profile, a quote request.
Some of those events carry your email address in hashed form, along with browsing identifiers like a click ID. Hashing turns your email into a fixed string that can't be read or reversed back into the original. The platform uses it only to tell whether the person who acted here is the person it showed an ad to. We never include your mobile number.
We're telling you this plainly because it's still your information, even hashed. A policy that just said "we never share anything" would be inaccurate.
This is measurement of our own advertising. It isn't selling your data and it isn't giving anyone a list to market to you with. Your mobile number and your text message consent are never part of it.
To stop it: turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, use your browser's tracking protection or your device's ad tracking setting, or write to us using the contact details below and we'll exclude you. Opting out here doesn't stop your texts and doesn't affect your service.
8. How long we keep it
- Your Water Profile link stays live for 120 days from your last activity on it, then expires.
- Enquiries that never became a customer are kept while we might still be useful to you, then deleted.
- Customer records are kept for as long as you have equipment we're responsible for, plus the period Florida law and our tax and insurance obligations require.
- Records of text message consent, including when and how you gave it, are kept for at least four years after you opt out or stop being a customer, because that's the window in which we might need to show we had permission.
- Opt-out records are kept indefinitely, because that's what makes an opt-out stick.
9. Your choices
Florida's privacy statute sets its obligations on very large companies, and we're a long way from that threshold. We're offering these anyway, because they're the right thing to offer and the size of the company isn't a good reason to withhold them.
- See it. Ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
- Fix it. Tell us what's wrong and we'll correct it.
- Delete it. Ask us to delete it. We'll do it except where we have to keep something: a completed job, a tax record, a warranty claim or an opt-out record.
- Stop the texts. Reply STOP, or write to us.
- Stop the ad measurement. Section 6 explains how.
Write to us using the details below. We'll answer within 45 days and we'll tell you if we need longer. We'll ask you to confirm who you are first, so we don't hand your information to someone else. Asking costs nothing and we won't treat you differently for it.
10. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and vendors who do the same. Card details go straight to our payment processor and are never stored on our systems.
No system is perfectly secure and we're not going to tell you otherwise. If a breach affects your information we'll notify you as Florida law requires.
11. Children
This site is for adults buying equipment for a home they own or manage. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us something, tell us and we'll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top will tell you when. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we'll tell you directly before it takes effect. Carrying on using the site after that means the new version applies.
