WATER BASICS
What Is Hard Water, and How Hard Is Florida's?
How is water hardness measured?
Hardness is measured in grains per gallon. Soft water sits near zero, hard water starts around 7 GPG, and very hard water is above 10.5. The higher the number, the more mineral your water is depositing on everything it touches.
Why does Florida water run so hard?
Much of the state sits on limestone, and water picks up calcium as it moves through it. That is why homes across Florida see the same scale on fixtures and film on the shower door, whether they are on city water or a well.
Your ZIP gives you a solid local number, and we confirm it at your tap on install day, since hardness varies street to street.
